The Arab Federation for Leather Industries is an Arab organization affiliated with the Council of Arab Economic Unity, which operates under the umbrella of the League of Arab States. The Union was established in 1978 based on the founding meeting in the Jordanian capital Amman. The Presidency of the Syrian Arab Republic issued Law No. 33 of 1980 stipulating that Damascus shall host the headquarters of the Union and grant it the privileges and immunities granted to the offices and employees of the League of Arab States and the Council of Arab Economic Unity.
